Will I still have to pay import charges from the USA to the UK?

Your tax-free US delivery address means that you won’t pay US taxes, however you may need to pay tax on imports from the USA to the UK.

Some countries have what is known as a “de minimis” value for taxes and duties, which means that anything under that value is tax or duty exempt.

The de minimis value for duties in the UK is £135 GBP. This means that you’ll be charged VAT for any items that exceed this value. VAT in the UK is currently set at 20% of the total value, this includes both the price of the item and shipping cost.

For example:

If you buy a product from the US that costs $500 and shipping is $30, the total value for VAT purposes is $530.
You’ll pay 20% VAT on that total, which is $106 in this case.
So, your final cost would be $500 + $30 (shipping) + $106 (VAT) = $636.

Is there anything that I can’t ship from the USA to the UK with Stackry?

You can ship pretty much anything with Stackry, except for items that are deemed to be illegal, unsafe, high-value or perishable. This means that you can’t ship cash, high end jewellery or food or drink, nor can you ship weapons or any products that may be restricted or illegal in the UK. Why do you offer a repacking service?

Have you ever had a tiny product in a big box? That’s not so bad when postage is included, but if you are paying for shipping, particularly shipping from the US, you want to make sure that your box is as small as possible! Our packaging service will take your package, carefully open it, take photos, and repack it to make it more cost effective to send. If the package is delicate, we can also add protection.

Is it cheaper to buy multiple items?

As well as offering a repackaging service to add space or protection, we offer a consolidation service. If you have multiple packages that you want to ship from the US to the UK, we can consolidate them (pack them all together) so that you pay one shipping fee instead of multiple.
This service usually costs $2 per package, up to a maximum of $25 per consolidation. If you are shopping for a product, such as clothes or collectables, which are significantly cheaper in US than they are in the UK, buying multiple items and consolidating them into one package will help you to significantly reduce the shipping costs per item – to save even more, you could even create a joint order with friends (provided you don’t mind them knowing your shopping secrets!).

Can I return a package?

Ordering from the US to the UK with Stackry is designed to be as close as possible to ordering in-country. This means that you can return your products, too! Depending on the returns policy of the original retailer, we will handle and ship your returns for you. You need to provide us with a prepaid label and pay an additional $7.50 returns fee.
