Every year, tech companies converge at CES (formerly known as the Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas to showcase the newest developments, from automotive to consumer electronics. This year at CES 2019, from January 8 -11, there were over 4,500 exhibiting companies and over 100,000 attendees. We worked with an AI powered data insights company called Addy to find the best products from the show. Addy pulls in lots of data and summarizes it super quickly.
The top innovations discussed were Internet of Things (IoT), Personal Voice Assistants, Autonomous vehicles, robots and drones, and Augmented Reality (AR),
Here are some of the most exciting products to come out of the show:
Next Generation Television Displays: 8K, transparent TV displays: 33 million pixels crammed into a display! 8K seems more like looking through a window than a giant TV screen. But that’s the point. In order for 8K to work well, it requires a big screen. Samsung’s 82 inch QLED introduced at the show sells for $10,000.
Foldable Smartphones: Huawei’s foldable handset showed a prototype. Certainly cool in concept, the stuff of sci-fi movies, but not quite ready for prime time. We will start to see them this year, but it seems like it might take time.
Automotive – Connected car technology with features such as map navigation, more sophisticated driver-assistance and entertainment. Pretty cool stuff and dependent on 5G. The auto industry had a strong presence at CES 2019 with automakers, tech giants, and innovative startups present. Although full self driving remains years away, it seems like 2019 will be the year of in-car connectivity.
As usual, great show, products and concepts that get the juices flowing and imagination jumping, but not quite there yet.
