Boot Primer for Fall

By now, we all know that once September rolls around it’s time to break out all the boots. From knee-high boots to combat boots to ankle booties and more, the options are endless. So, we put together a list of our favorite boot styles this season along with trend updates for both men and women.

Combat/Trooper Boots

There’s something so edgy about combat boots and they really spice up an outfit. We love these various styles available at Target right now. What’s great about combat boots is you can stick with a simple black pair or have some fun with it and go for a patterned look, or even studded ones. As for an outfit idea – pair the boots with some skinny jeans, a tattered white V-neck, and a jean or leather jacket…total rock star move. The hottest look for guys is a twist on the Chelsea Boot – a rugged biker boot.

Lace-Up Boots

Looking for a heeled boot, but don’t feel like having your feet ache all day? Lace-up boots are the answer to all your prayers. Similar to a wedge, these closed toe boots provide a bit more support and stability while still keeping your toes warm during the cooler months. One of our go-to outfits for this type of shoe is a pair of slimming jeans and a simple tee or tank layered with a cozy sweater.

Rain Boots

This is a type of boot where you can have a little fun and experiment with brighter colored shoes that you probably don’t normally wear. Since there are sure to be a few rainy fall days, pick a style that is comfortable for you but also shows your personality off a little bit. Slip on a pair of chic leggings layered with legwarmers and your rain boots, plus a long sleeve and vest on top – you’ll be the queen of rainy day fashion.

Suede Boots

Suede is really in right now – especially for guys, and we recommend hopping on this trend. We recommend going for a deep, neutral color that is versatile and can be paired with quite a few outfits. Also, depending on what you like, you can either go for a knee-high, mid-calf, or ankle version. If you’re feeling bold, you can have a little fun and pair a knee-high pair with a t-shirt dress and fluffy scarf – hello comfort!

Peep-Toe Booties

For those of you who are don’t mind a little autumn breeze in between your toes, peep-toe booties are the move then. This style of boots usually cut off at the ankle and come in so many different styles and colors that you are bound to find one that is right for you.  With these shoes, try slipping on a pair of dark wash skinny jeans, a long flowy shirt, and a lightweight trench coat for a warm yet chic outfit.

Riding Boots

Of course, we saved the best for last – you didn’t think we forgot about the classic riding boot, did you? When all else fails, riding boots are a wardrobe staple and always in style. The versatile boot can dress up or down an outfit, making it an effortless choice to own.

Top tip: Flannel shirts are everywhere online and a great look on both men and women -especially when paired with a classic white tee, a pair of jeans and, of course, boots!
